Born and raised on a cattle ranch in Idaho—I broke my own horse, branded calves, bucked hay and entertained myself. Food was unintentionally organic, neighbors were miles away and outside was my playground. Whenever I wasn’t exploring, I loved to draw, mostly animals of any kind—birds, horses, bears, fish, and comics. For many years I even drew our family Christmas card, which looking back was pretty embarrassing.
Over time I traded wearing cowboy boots for flip flops, went to college, got a degree and landed my first job as an Art Director for a top ad agency. I’ve spent over 25 years crafting marketing campaigns for countless famous brands, dreaming up cutting edge concepts and working furiously to meet impossible deadlines. Whenever I’m not behind a computer being creative I’m outside snowboarding, fly fishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, or riding motorcycles, and hopefully all in the same day. Consequently, having my fair share of ER visits. I eventually got married in my mid-thirties, also to a creative whiz. She tried to settle me down and we spawned two happy kids, both gifted artists as well. Now we all get to enjoy spending our spare time exploring the outdoors and being artsy together.
I haven’t practiced traditional art for nearly 30 years. Recently, I got an itch to see if I could actually still draw and I bought a set of colored pencils. Now I’m learning all sorts of different new mediums. It’s invigorating to bring ideas to life using just my hands again after so many years of computer graphics. I plan to continue creating new art, so if my work interests you tell your friends and check back for updates. Please enjoy!
